Our Pastor

Our Pastor, John L Paulson celebrated the spring of 2019 by graduating from Dallas Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Christian Education (MACE) and by accepting the pastorate at Washington County Bible Church. His passion is expository preaching! John also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy (B.S. 1993) from the University of Kansas in Lawrence. In May 2005, the Lord called him away from pharmacy and into full time ministry. In obedience, he surrendered his pharmacy license in good standing.

John was born in Colby, KS of John Denver song fame, and was raised on the high plains of Western Kansas. He was born again at 42 years of age by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone by God’s grace alone on April 21, 2002 at Cornerstone Southern Baptist Church in Lawrence, KS. He gave witness to his new life in Christ by believer’s baptism in October 2002. God called John to preach in December of that same year. He was ordained by Indian Avenue Baptist Church in Lawrence on April 17, 2005.

Prior to coming to Washington County Bible Church, Pastor John served the Lord in a variety of ways. From May 2005 until June 2007 he served as a traveling evangelist. From June 2007 until October 2018 he served as Chaplain for the Sheridan County Fire Department and the Kansas State Fire Fighter’s Association. In addition, he was director of a Celebrate Recovery® ministry and a college ministry named Christian Challenge. One of the more unusual ministries the Lord called him to was serving as a Security Officer while attending seminary in Dallas, TX. There he ministered to people from every walk of life and many nations. Most recently, he served as Senior Pastor at Pleasant Home Church near Edson, KS.

John is married to his wife Lisa. They live in Brenham, TX. They have eight children, ten grandchildren and three foster-grandchildren.

Pastor John says, “Washington County Bible Church preaches, teaches and lives the Word of God. We are sinners saved by grace doing life together. I encourage you with all my heart to join us, a bible-preaching church, filled with real, loving family of believers. Only by hearing the gospel of Jesus at 42 years of age did I come to entrust myself to Jesus Christ by faith alone for salvation. Now I preach what I have been given. We look forward to seeing you.”
